Disability-Friendly Cleaning

Everyone should have a clean and safe environment. For the roughly 13% of Americans with a disability, it is important to have access to cleaning products and tools that make these daily tasks accessible. The cleaning products industry continues to innovate to provide options that help meet the diverse needs of consumers. For Disability Awareness Month, we’re sharing some cleaning products and cleaning tools that can help make cleaning more accessible.

  • Liquid laundry packets – These convenient, concentrated packets can make it easier to do laundry when handling a large bottle of detergent is difficult or cumbersome.
  • Robotic vacuum cleaners – Automated devices can be ideal for those with mobility or strength limitations.
  • Long-handled tools – From dusters to mops and brushes, extended handle tools can be a game-changer for anyone who has difficulty bending over or reaching.
  • Toilet wand – This tool makes it easier for anyone cleaning the bathroom and the disposable head means that cleanup afterward can be done with the press of a button.
  • Voice-activated home assistants – A smart washing machine or dishwasher can be operated by voice, so you don’t need to be able to read all the button options to get it started. The assistant can also alert you when the wash is done.

These are just a few of the disability-friendly cleaning products and equipment that can significantly reduce the barriers faced by individuals with disabilities. It’s a step towards creating a more inclusive society where everyone can live in a clean and healthy environment.
