Cleaning Tips for Beach Trips

Going to the beach is a fun and relaxing way to enjoy the summer, but you can also bring home a lot of unwanted sand that can be hard to clean. With a little planning, you can avoid most of the mess and just bring home the memories, and maybe some shells.

Before you head to the beach, put your beach bag and beach blanket in the dryer with a dryer sheet. This will help them repel water and keep sand from sticking. For items that cannot be put in the dryer, there are also some water repellent sprays that can help.

Pack a bag or basket lined with a towel to store wet and sandy items for the trip home. This could be for towels, beach toys, or whatever else you want to keep contained for cleaning and drying when you get home.

Bring a small brush or some baby powder. Sand sticks when wet, so the baby powder can help absorb moisture and the brush can remove the sand once dry. Don’t forget to shake out your shoes and hats as well.

When you get home, rinse your swimsuit and towels with cold water and hang them to dry. Don’t put swimsuits in the dryer, as the heat can damage the fabric and cause fading. Wash them with mild detergent to remove any salt and chlorine residue.

To clean your car, vacuum the seats and floor mats to remove any sand or dirt. Wipe down the dashboard, windows, and door handles with a damp cloth and a mild cleaner. You can also spray some baking soda or air freshener to eliminate any odors.

By following these cleaning tips, you can enjoy your beach trips without worrying about the mess. Have fun and stay safe in the sun!
