Tips for Organizing Small Laundry Spaces Safely

Some of us have full laundry rooms in our homes and others use communal laundry facilities. However, if you’re like 46% of American households, you fall somewhere in between, with an in-home washer and dryer tucked in a closet or within another room in the home. In which case, it may take a little creativity to make the most of your laundry space. Here are some ideas:

  1. Use vertical space: Make use of the vertical space in your laundry room by installing shelves or cabinets above your washer and dryer. This will give you extra storage space for laundry supplies.
  2. Use a folding table: If you have limited space, consider using a folding table that can be stored away when not in use. This will give you a surface to fold clothes on without taking up too much space.
  3. Use baskets or bins: Use baskets or bins to organize laundry supplies, making sure they are out of reach of children and pets. Label the baskets or bins so you can quickly find what you need.
  4. Keep it safe: Make sure to store laundry detergents and other supplies in their original containers, as many of these have child-resistant features, as well as important safety information on the label.
  5. Keep it tidy: Keep your laundry space tidy by putting things away after use. This will not only make the space more pleasant to use, but it will also reduce the risk of accidents.
